Work Begins

As we got close to closing on the construction loan, things started to happen at the lot. First, we had talked to Rick about putting in a circle driveway and he said that there would be plenty of room on our lot to do that. So, as the first picture shows, he put in the necessary culverts and covered them over with dirt.

The next picture was taken after the gravel was added - the same kind which currently covers the rest of the road. There are a couple of other things of interest in this shot. The stakes in the foreground were put there by Rick and myself when we finally decided on the orientation of the house on the lot. At first, we had it sitting more parallel to the street but, in the end, decided that it should be square with the bulkhead. You can also see in this picture a pavilion to the left. It sits on the line between 2 of the 3 lots that are on the point of our "peninsula." All three of these lots were bought by the same person. Although Rick didn't build this pavilion (I believe the developer built it as part of the 3-lot package deal), he is building this fellow's house. Finally, you can also see in this shot a house in the distance. That house is right across the channel from Rick's house and was also built by Rick.

The last two shots are closeups of the driveway after the gravel was added.

The last shot shows a house being built across the street from us where the slab has already been poured. That house is also being built by Rick.
