The Pontoon Boat
Now that we had a lakefront lot with a boat slip, naturally we thought
it would be nice to have a boat. My wife and I both enjoyed going out on my cousin's pontoon boat on
Kentucky Lake several years ago and agreed that a pontoon was the way to go. So, we started shopping. First,
we went to the Boat Show in Houston back in January and looked at lots of pontoons on display at the show by
local dealers. Several months later, I visited two or three of these dealers but was especially impressed
with one which was fairly close to where we live. They still had one of the 2003 models which they had
told us about at
the boat show. It had a large discount off the price and was much cheaper than the 2004 models. Although it
wasn't exactly the layout we wanted (a combo cruise/fish model), we couldn't pass up the great price.
The first shot shows the boat sitting on the trailer at the dealer. I've never towed anything that large
before - it was kinda scary!
The next shot, still at the dealer, shows Sarah inspecting the deck.
The 3rd shot shows the boat, complete with kids, tied up at Rick's dock ... which he built himself, of course.
His own pontoon (not shown) is on the other side of the dock.
The last shot, of yours truly at the helm, was taken as we ventured out onto the main lake. Actually, we stayed
pretty much in the north end of the lake. I think the lake is about 16 or 17 miles long and we never got more
than 3 or 4 miles from the development.
