One Inside and Three Outside
The title refers to where the pictures were taken last Saturday (1/8). The inside shot was
just to show the "el cheapo" window coverings that we found at a place called "Tuesday Morning."
Since we had 17 windows to cover, we knew we had to hold the line on cost. Besides being very
inexpensive, these "shades" are functional, were pretty easy to install, and look pretty good.
As you can see from the next shot, Rick (our builder) finally brought the boat over from his
house and parked it here. I think it came in handy when they were working on the slip extension.
Rick got the developer to pile-drive a couple of posts (one tall for a lamp and another short one
for added stability) on either side of the slip so that an extension (about 5 feet, I think) could
be added. This was so the end of the boat wouldn't hang out the back of the slip unprotected.
The top boards on the slip were removed so that they could build a ground-level walkway all the way
around the slip. That part of the deck will be about 4 feet wide and will integrate into the rest
of the decking.
The next shot shows a side view of what's been added so far. The "bench seat" runs the full width
of the front of the house. Then there's a step-down to the next level which runs all the way out to
the bulkhead. As you can see in this picture and the next one, there aren't any rails yet but there
will be some added eventually. We're just not sure yet where we want them and how tall we want them
to be.
Another thing to note here is that, eventually (within a year I think), you have to close off the underneath of
your house (when it's on piers) with either lattice or some solid material. With the decking on the
front, one side has been taken care of.
This last shot just shows the main lake off in the distance to the left. Also, you can see that the
developer is adding some stuff around the marina area, which is out of the picture off to the left.
The pavilion is complete and the fence around
the pool is almost done. There is a peninsula off to the left of this picture where they will add a
small store, probably with gas pumps, etc. for boat and fishing supplies. Hopefully, our view won't
be blocked much more than it is now.
