Almost Ready!
It was dreary today with rain off and on all day. I went up to the lake to take some
bathroom light fixtures which we picked up at Lowe's on Saturday. The final inspection was
done on the house last Thursday. This is a "builder's inspection" which basically is done
to show the inspector that the builder has done everything he has been contracted to do.
Of course, there are still some little details, paint touch-up, etc. that have to be done but,
other than that, the house is ready for occupancy.
While I was there today, I took some pictures. However, this first shot was taken
last week. It shows that the door for the little storage compartment under the bar has been
put in place.
The rest of the shots were taken today (12/6). The first one shows the dining area. The
table, chairs, bench and bar stools were purchased about 3 or 4 weeks ago at a furniture store in
the outlet mall at Conroe, which is about 20 miles from Wildwood Shores. Suzanne found this set
and it had a really good price. It looks nice, too!
This next shot is in the downstairs bath. That's a medicine cabinet on the right and a
mirror on the left. The reflection in the mirror of the camera's flash on the cabinet makes it look like
it's a two-tone but that's just an optical illusion. The cabinet, mirror, and
vanity were built on-site by Robert, who also built the kitchen cabinets. Robert lives at Wildwood
Shores within sight of our house. The 3-light fixture in the box will be
mounted by Rick or Jim within the next day or two. There's a 2-light fixture just like that one
which will be installed in the upstairs bath.
The last shot shows the back door, with masking in place for painting. Robert painted this door
and the front door (as you can see in one of the pictures above) with the red paint that Suzanne
picked out. However, I think it's a little "redder" than she thought it was going to be. She
hasn't yet seen the doors in person since they were painted.
