The Cul-de-sac and Other Stuff

These shots are 6 months later than the previous set. The first picture was taken from almost the same angle as the last picture of the set from September, 2003. As you can see, they had built up the road and added some gravel.

The last shot was actually taken at the other end of the development, about 3/4 mile, as the crow flies, from our lot. I was standing in the road at the top of a hill which overlooks a small lake at the northwest corner of the development. All the waterways at the developement are connected and you can drive your boat from here out onto the lake proper. The house at the left in this picture is one of several in the development that were built by Rick who is building our house. At the time this picture was taken, that house was not quite finished but, as of now (July, 2004), the owner has already moved in.

Although, it may not look like it from the pictures I've taken, there are a lot of houses already built here. In fact, at the other end of the road in that last picture (about a half mile) is where Rick lives in the house that he built himself. And at that end of the road, almost every lot has a house. As a guess, I would say that there are between 40 and 50 houses at the development and maybe 25% to 30% of these homeowners live there full time.

UPDATE (8/7/04): I finally drove around the development counting and, although I may have mis-counted by one or two, there were about 45 completed houses and approximately five under construction, including ours.

UPDATE (9/18/04): Here are some more statistics, if you like that sort of thing. I ran across an article about Wildwood Shores in a magazine from May of 2003. In the article it stated that the development would eventually have 700 lots on its 220 acres. Assuming that the information from the Wildwood Shores website is current and accurate, here are the numbers that I came up with. The development is divided into 10 sections. Sections 1 and 2 are sold out and sections 3 through 6 are within 1 to 3 lots each from being sold out. The total lots in the development, if I counted correctly, is 712 with 573 lots sold. In other words, of the lots that have been sold, less than 10% have houses that are built or under construction.
