The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!
The good, as you can see here, is that we finally got enough heavy rains around the lake to bring
the water level up close to normal.
The bad is that I still can't get the boat in and out of the slip because of the weeds (that grew there
while the water level was down) and the floating vegetation (which washed into the canal with all the rains).
Maybe I can push the boat out of the slip past the weeds and then put the motor in gear, hopefully before I run
aground on the opposite bank! We'll see.
And, the ugly can be seen here as all the rain washed out the newly rebuilt
bulkhead, since they didn't really finish the job properly.
This last shot shows some rain gutters that have been installed. The downspouts will eventually be attached to
underground plastic conduit (those 5 or 6-inch diameter black things that you see in flower beds) which will carry
rain water out to the bulkhead. Yours truly will be digging the ditch to bury that conduit. By the way, the
rain gutters are on both the east and west sides of the house as well as a short section on the back side. This
is part of the measures being taken to fix the drainage on the property so that we hopefully won't have another
washout at the boat slip or on the bulkhead. Our builder also did some grading on the east side of the house
to carry rain water away from the house and toward the corner of the canal.
