Getting Close - Inside And Out
Well, here are the first pictures in over a month. A lot has been going on but
not the kind of stuff that shows up well in pictures - wiring, plumbing, that sort of thing. Anyway, this
first shot, taken from the front deck, shows that the developers have built a pavilion across the channel
from us next to the new swimming pool. When I first saw them working on this, I was afraid that it would
block our view to the main lake. But, as you can see, you can hardly tell it's there since it is just a
concrete slab with a roof over it.
This next picture shows our grinder pump. All the houses out here are required to have one of these. Basically,
this thing (which stands about 6 feet tall before it's buried in the ground) takes the waste water from the house
and grinds it up like a huge blender. Then the liquid is pumped through the sewer pipes up to the water treatment
plant up on the hill.
This shot of the outside shows that the two ceiling fans for the front (south) side have not yet been installed.
However, the three fans on the west side of the house have been put up, although it's kind of hard to see them
in this picture. Also, notice that the level of the lake is down over two feet, due to the dry weather we've had
the last 2 or 3 months. We'd like to bring our boat over here from Rick's and dock it at our house but, as you
can see, we may have to ask the developer do some dredging before we can do that.
This final shot shows several things. First, Robert brought a piece of the cabinets over to make sure we (i.e. my
wife!) liked the way the stain looked. This is a corner piece and the right and left sides, which have not been
stained, will be covered by adjacent cabinets. It's a little hard to tell
much about how it looks in this picture - sorry.
Next, notice that the subfloor for the tile has been put down. They were still working on this when I left yesterday
(Wednesday) about 4:00. All the floors will be tile except for carpet in the bedrooms, loft and on the stairs.
Finally, you can see that the studs for the bar have been put in place. The sink will be located here - you can see
the drain pipe at the bottom of the picture. The range/oven will be located under the kitchen window with the dishwasher
just to the left of that. The refrigerator will be at the right in this picture, approximately where the orange
extension cord is plugged in. By the way, we bought the appliances at Lowe's on Wednesday (those mentioned as well
as a washer/dryer stack) and they will be delivered
one week from today, which will be on Thursday, November 4th.
