Roof, Siding, Doors
Went up to the lake today (Thursday, 8/12) to do a little fishing and take some
pictures. Except for paint, stain, and the rail around the deck, most of the outside work is done. The guys
who do the deck work are the same ones who are doing the roof so they should be ready to
start on the rail soon. There had
been some work inside but it was mostly electrical boxes, recessed lighting fixtures, wiring and that sort of
thing. So, I didn't take any pictures of that. I did notice that all the treated wood for the deck rail was
inside and ready to go.
The first picture today shows that all the cedar siding is in place and the back door has been hung. The
siding will be stained
and the back door painted. The shingles on the west side have been completed.
The next shot down the west side shows the soffit all in place. The outlet boxes are for ceiling fans.
This shot of the east side shows that the shingles are almost done. Also, the tall (24-foot) post that goes in the
center on the front is finally up. They had to get it from Louisiana because local suppliers were out of these
extra long, 6x6 posts.
The last shot is a close-up of the back door. The front door which has also been hung is the same door. Both
will be painted - some shade of dark red, I believe. Also, the stain for the siding will be "cedar on cedar", which
we picked out from looking at some other houses in the development with that color.
